T he MOREPRO project was created in the industry 4.0 contest to improve the performance and management of production systems in the manufacturing sector of high precision mechanical machining. It regards components and products with high added value in the following sectors: aerospace, oil & gas, automotive and railway. For these processes are often used special materials, difficult to work and very expensive. They are processed by chip removal starting from large solids allowing a precision of one hundredth of a millimeter. Products can vary a lot: from one-of-a-kind components and very small batches for particular applications, to large production batches characterized by an intense production rate.

The MOREPRO project aims to develop a groundbreaking distributed intelligence system to improve the management of production plants with flexible production lines. This can only be possible thanks to new simulation, monitoring and prediction capabilities regarding the conditions of the plant, machines, their components and of the cutting tools when there are complex machining. brain Technologies aims to develop a new digital architecture combined with the machine controllers and the plant supervisors to keep the production line under continuous control about quality of each process (monitoring and forecasting of the residual life of the tools) and productivity of the systems (predictive and opportunistic management of maintenance interventions).
